IGF-Research at the intersection of mechanics, electronics and manufacturing

Since 1992, the 3-D MID e.V. research association has been connecting industry and academia in the field of Mechatronic Integrated Devices—the integration of electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical, sensory, and actuator functions into three-dimensional components. Approximately 90 members from companies and research institutes are jointly advancing technologies such as 3D printing, direct laser structuring, plasma coating, and functional printing technologies.

At the heart of the work is collaborative industrial research: funded projects provide SMEs in particular with access to pre-competitive research without having to bear the costs and risks alone. Members benefit from knowledge transfer and networking at events such as the MID Summit and the Mechatronic Integration Discourse.
