AA Frequency Solutions introduces ultra-miniature TCXO for space limited precision timing applications
AA Frequency Solutions has announced the new AATC1051, an ultra-miniature Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) designed to provide stable frequency references in compact, power-conscious electronic systems.
Measuring just 1.6 x 1.2mm, with a profile height as low as 0.45mm, the AATC1051 combines an ultra-compact, seam-sealed package with low power consumption and low phase noise. It covers a frequency range of 10MHz to 52MHz and offers a frequency stability of ±0.5ppm over an operating temperature range of −40 to 85°C. Typical phase noise is specified at −114dBc/Hz at 100Hz, −131 dBc/Hz at 1kHz and −148 dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset.
The device supports 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V supply options (±5%), with a maximum input current of 2.5mA and a start-up time of up to 2ms. Its clipped-sine-wave output and compact footprint make it a practical timing option where board space, power consumption and frequency stability are important design considerations.
Typical application areas for this class of TCXO include wireless communication equipment and RF modules, mobile and portable electronics, GNSS and navigation receivers, IoT and industrial telemetry devices in addition to portable test and measurement instruments. In these systems, a temperature-compensated reference can help maintain frequency accuracy as operating conditions change. Final suitability will depend on the required output interface, frequency, stability and system-level design.
“Designers are being asked to deliver more functionality in increasingly compact electronic platforms, without compromising timing performance. The AATC1051 addresses this need with a very small package, low power consumption and ±0.5 ppm frequency stability, giving engineers another option for space-constrained communications, portable and measurement designs,” said Anke Allen, Managing Director of AA Frequency Solutions.
