New partially gold-plated crimp contacts for heavy-duty connectors: Greater efficiency for automated manufacturing processes

(09/26) Phoenix Contact is expanding its Heavycon portfolio of heavy-duty connectors with new partially gold-plated crimp contacts in the CK1,6 series. The stamped and rolled contacts combine optimized gold plating with high process reliability, reduced costs, and the ability to be processed automatically.

The new CK1,6 crimp contacts feature an optimized partial gold-plating concept. This reduces the amount of precious metals used, and users benefit from greater cost stability despite fluctuating gold prices. At the same time, the electrical properties required for industrial applications, as well as corrosion resistance, are maintained. To ensure efficient series production, the contacts are available as a taped product for fully automated processing. This makes it possible to significantly speed up crimping processes and scale production capacity. In addition, versions are available as individual contacts for manual assembly and flexible field applications. The new contacts support a wider range of conductor cross-sections than comparable solutions. This reduces the number of item versions needed and simplifies inventory management. Users benefit from greater flexibility in product selection and more efficient procurement. The partially gold-plated CK1,6 crimp contacts are fully compatible with existing Heavycon contact inserts and modules. This allows existing interface concepts to remain unchanged and continue to be used. With this expansion of its portfolio, Phoenix Contact is offering a cost-effective solution for automated manufacturing processes while also strengthening the future viability of industrial connection technology.
